Extracting Nuclear Transparency from p-A Cross sections

چکیده
We study nuclear structure effects on the transparency in high transverse momentum (p, 2p) and (e, ep) reactions. We show that in the DWIA-eikonal approximation, even when correlations are included, one can get a factorized expression for the transparency. This depends only on the average nucleon density ρ(r) and a correlation function. We develop a technique to include correlations in a Monte-Carlo Glauber type calculation. We compare calculations of T using the eikonal formalism and a continuous density, with a Monte Carlo method based on discrete nucleons.

Nuclear Transparency in Exclusive p° Production at HERMES
Exclusive coherent and incoherent electroproduction of the p° meson from H and N targets has been studied at the HERMES experiment as a function of coherence length (lc), corresponding to the lifetime of hadronic fluctuations of the virtual photon, and squared fourmomentum of the virtual photon (—<2). The ratio of N to *H cross sections per nucleon, called nuclear transparency, was found to inc...
متن کاملRelations between fusion cross sections and average angular momenta.
We study the relations between moments of fusion cross sections and averages of angular momentum. The role of the centrifugal barrier and the target deformation in determining the eeective barrier radius are clariied. A simple method for extracting average angular momentum from fusion cross sections is demonstrated using numerical examples as well as actual data.

Nuclear transparency in the (e, e′p) reaction for 135 ≤ Tp ≤ 800 MeV is investigated using the distorted wave approximation. Calculations using densitydependent effective interactions, both empirical and theoretical, are compared with phenomenological optical potentials. We find that nuclear transparency is well correlated with proton absorption and neutron total cross sections and that calcula...
متن کامل0 Unified optical - model approach to low - energy antiproton annihilation on nuclei and to antiprotonic atoms
A successful unified description of ¯ p nuclear interactions near E = 0 is achieved using a ¯ p optical potential within a folding model, V opt ∼ ¯ v * ρ, where a ¯ pp potential ¯ v is folded with the nuclear density ρ. The potential ¯ v fits very well the measured ¯ pp annihilation cross sections at low energies (p L < 200 MeV/c) and the 1s and 2p spin-averaged level shifts and widths for the ...
متن کاملEnergy dependence of nuclear transparency in C (p,2p) scattering.
The transparency of carbon for (p,2p) quasielastic events was measured at beam momenta ranging from 5.9 to 14.5 GeV/c at 90 degrees c.m. The four-momentum transfer squared (Q2) ranged from 4.7 to 12.7 (GeV/c)(2). We present the observed beam momentum dependence of the ratio of the carbon to hydrogen cross sections. We also apply a model for the nuclear momentum distribution of carbon to obtain ...
